Fall tour. France – New Zealand: Why will the All Blacks play in white?

This Saturday, November 16, 2024, the French rugby team faces New Zealand as part of its fall tour, at the Stade de France. And the All Blacks will not play in black but with a white tunic, according to their choice. White will therefore be the dominant color, with a black collar and always the silver fern, symbol of the nation.

Usually, when two teams with fairly similar jersey colors meet, it is the host team that wears their alternate jersey. The dark blue of the XV of France would be too similar to the black of the Blacks, which could sometimes create confusion.

During the opening match of the 2023 World Cup between the two teams, their last meeting so far, it was a draw which led to the French playing in white and the Blacks with their usual jersey . And the Blues had to resolve to occupy the visitors' locker room.

For this friendly match, the New Zealanders agreed to wear their white jersey.
