Three matches opened the 7th round of the Coupe de France on Friday, marked by the exploits of Vendée les Herbiers (N2), Angoulême (N2) and Quevilly Rouen Métropole (N, photo), winners of Ligue 2 – respectively AC Ajaccio, Rodez and Paris FC – for their entry into the running!
The 2024-2025 Coupe de France series has written the start of a new chapter. As the curtain raiser for the 7th round of the 108th edition, 6 of the 182 teams entered were in the running this Friday, November 15. Among them, three representatives of Ligue 2 BKT, whose residents are making their debut this weekend, were at work. For a short tour only because the first surprises did not take long: Paris FC, current leader of the championship, AC Ajaccio, and Rodez AF were overthrown by smaller players than them!
► In Vendée, AC Ajaccio (15th of L2) fell against the Herbiers (4th in pool B of N2). The Corsicans had nevertheless taken the advantage after half an hour of play on a header from Axel Bamba following a corner (33rd) but they missed the opportunity to take cover. Vendée goalkeeper Nathan Yavorsky made up for having caused a penalty by repelling Benjamin Santelli's attempt (62nd). He allowed his team to stay in the match and believe in it, especially as the Ajaccian striker left his team ten to eleven (78th). The crazy comeback came in added time thanks to a double from Shelton Guillaume with a magnificent shot into the top corner (1-1, 90th) then from the penalty spot (2-1, 90th+2).

► An exploit which gave ideas to another resident of N2. Angouleme, in difficulty in the championship (14th in pool A), achieved a great performance by leaving Rodez Aveyron Football (10th in L2). If the Ruhénois had the clearest situations, the Charentais surprised their opponents by finding the opening before half-time through Paul Venot after a ball poorly pushed back into the area (1-0, 42nd). In the second half, the locals widened the gap with a header from Théo Chauvier into the small net (2-0, 75th). Bentayeb's rehabilitation was too late (2-1, 90th). Angoulême advances to the 8th round.

► Quevilly Rouen Métropole will also be there. 14th in National, the Normans eliminated Paris FCleader of Ligue 2 BKT at home at the end of the suspense! Quickly leading to the score on a strike from Belkacem Dali-Amar (0-1, 17th) and in difficulty, the Ile-de-France residents equalized thanks to a volley from Nouha Dicko (1-1, 29th). The two teams were unable to decide between themselves and the first penalty shootout of the 7th round began. On the PFC side, Maxime Lopez missed his attempt and the second shooter came up against Pierre Patron. QRM performed flawlessly and evening captain Yanis Dede Lhomme sent his team to 8th heaven with a panenka (1-1, 4 tab 2).
