During a television program this Friday evening, Cheikh Yérim Seck commented on the speech of candidate Tahirou Sarr, emphasizing that “Ousmane Sonko clearly understood the impact of these remarks, particularly within his own political camp. According to the journalist, this is why Sonko reacted, but he mentioned incorrect figures in his response.
He added on 7tv that the integration of Pan-Africanism is a positive step, but that it must go through the prior security of the country, in particular its land, in a context where natural resources are expected. “The countries around us are unstable, and the authorities must take this reality into account to strengthen the country’s security,” he said.
Concerning Tahirou Sarr, Cheikh Yérim Seck clarified that the latter never suggested the expulsion of Guineans, but rather that they should be in possession of residence permits. “In Guinea, there were also Senegalese, and the two countries have historical links,” he concluded.
