“My Baby” this evening on Chérie 25: the moving mother-daughter duo Sandrine Kiberlain/Thaïs Alessandrin

Thanks to a clear and precise guideline, (…) My Baby is in efficiency. No superfluous scenes, the film is short. (…) Liza Azuelos it displays the essential without any sidetrack: a natural pain whose deadline is the same for everyone. We have an excellent time alongside a director who appears to be a sure bet in family comedies.

Filming secrets, anecdotes: did you know?

• This is the 6th feature film of Lisa Azuelos.
• In the press kit, the author-director returned to the genesis : “The first trigger was the film Boyhood. The scene where Patricia Arquette is facing his son who picks up his things and leaves, casually, without looking back, fascinated me. I said to myself: “So that’s how it is? One day they leave, it’s over, is that what’s going to happen to me?”
  My youngest daughter was in her first year at the time, she was talking about applying to a university in Canada, I understood that it was urgent to prepare myself for this eventuality (laughs)so I started filming it with my phone.
  (…) At first I wanted to make a film of these hours of rushes but ultimately, I wrote this story, it happened naturally. In my videos, there was still an important character missing: the mother!”
• Jade, the “baby” of this comedy is interpreted by Thaïs Alessandrin. This is the first major role in the cinema for the one who is none other than the daughter of Lisa Azuelos and the director by Patrick Alessandri (August 15, Suburbs 13 Ultimatum) as well as the granddaughter of the actress and singer Marie Laforêt to the city.
• The original music was composed by Yael Naim.
• The film won two prizes at the Alpe d'Huez Festival in 2019: Grand Prize and Female Actor Prize for Sandrine Kiberlain.
• Guest of honor of theArras Film Festival 2024 (8-17 November)the actress Sandrine Kiberlain will be showing in the feature film Sarah Bernhardt, La Divine by Guillaume Niclouxin theaters on Wednesday, December 18.
