US Vendôme wants to beat Vitry to forget Sucy

Vendôme (6e, 14 pt)Vitry (9e6 pt)

This season, the Vendômois are clearly connected to alternating current. Heroic in the Loir-et-Cher derby at home two weeks earlier, the USV showed a completely different face and lost its footing on the Sucy lawn (70-7), returning with a heavy suitcase of 70 points conceded. A striking contrast between home matches and away matches which raises questions within the club.

A defeat which allowed us to tell ourselves our four truths

In this context, the Vendômois are obliged to make amends when hosting another Ile-de- team: Vitry. On paper, Olivier Villeneuve's men are slight favorites given the current form of the Vitriots (three consecutive defeats and relegation) and the face they display when they play on their lawn at Boniface.

Indeed, since their inaugural defeat on the first day against , all the following teams have bitten the dust in Vendôme (Nogent, , ). Fortunately, since this home record helps compensate for the slightly more sluggish away matches, including the latest against Sucy-en-Brie. In any case, this defeat allowed the group to tell each other some beneficial truths for the rest of the competition, especially since everyone knows that a season is never a long, quiet river.

“Turn the page facing Vitry”

In their progress table, this meeting against Vitry is therefore of crucial importance since in the event of a victory, the Ile-de-France residents would be relegated to more than 10 points and consequently, the path towards maintenance would almost already be assured barring a cataclysm in second part of the season.

It is in this sense that coach Olivier Villeneuve wanted to remobilize these troops for this next important event. “We missed each other in Sucy and we won’t go back to that. The real problem is when you have 50 players available against Blois and you only have 35 the next away match. Now, we will try to turn the page against Vitry without having a particularly vengeful spirit compared to last weekend which is clearly a match to forget in terms of content, beyond the absentees. »
