4-week weather trend: heavy snow in the mountains

Week from November 18 to 24: severe winter deterioration

Very turbulent weather is confirmed with a parade of very active disturbances over with heavy precipitation and a risk of gales. In a northwest to north flow, the cold air could bring a little snow to the plains but especially from low and medium altitude. Conditions are expected to be very poor in the mountains with heavy snowfall and violent winds. The south-eastern quarter is not affected by these disturbances due to the wind (mistral and westerly wind driving away the disturbances).

Week from November 25 to December 1: less turbulent and milder weather

Reliability becomes more and more limited at this time. The majority scenario at this stage remains that of a warm spell thanks to a flow moving towards the southwest sector, but there remains uncertainty about the speed of this warm spell. According to various weather models, temperatures could remain rather in seasonal averages with a west to northwest flow. In this context, the southeast maintains dry weather with wind.

Week from December 2 to 8: mixed weather, seasonal temperatures

For this first week of December, and the start of meteorological winter which begins on the 1st?? December, the situation could remain mixed without any particular roughness. A weakly disturbed westerly flow could persist with temperatures probably a little higher than the seasonal averages. The high pressures seem to want to rise again but with varying speed.

Week of December 9 to 15: towards an anticyclonic situation?

At this stage, the models seem to be heading towards the re-inflating of high pressures over Western Europe. Calm and dry weather could then prevail with approximately seasonal temperatures. In this type of weather, the cold can persist with fog in the east, while the mountains are generally sunny.
