Camille, then aged 7, suffered a pediatric stroke which almost cost her life

Guest on the set of It starts todayCamille explained that she had difficulty remembering the evening when her life changed. “I remember going to bed like every night”she recalled, before revealing the first memory she had after waking up from the coma. “I remember seeing, following hallucinations, butterflies on the wall of my intensive care room.”

The young girl's dad then spoke to tell the story of the evening when Camille suffered a pediatric stroke. “It was a pretty normal Sunday. She goes to bed, then we go to bed. We just hear her crying a little. She just says ‘Doliprane’so it must be a headache. It's pretty classic for parenting situations. We try to give a Doliprane and then she vomits, then we try to wake her up, then she doesn't wake up, then in fact, she won't speak again for a week. So she is unconscious. An unconscious child alerts us.”said the one who dialed the Samu number.

“I spent fifteen days in intensive care”

If Camille's parents were initially relatively calm, they quickly understood that the situation was turning into a tragedy when the Samu men told them that they were going to take their daughter not to the hospital, but to the top University Hospital by helicopter. “So there, it still goes up a little notch on gravity”confided the mother.

For Camille, “it’s a period that remains quite vague”. “The time I woke up was quite long, I spent fifteen days in intensive care. When I woke up, I knew what had happened because during my waking up phase, there was always someone by my side who told me what that happened to me”confided the one who spent six months in a rehabilitation center in Brest. “I spent the week there and came back on the weekend. I had a little school, physiotherapy, psychomotor skills”she added, before saying more about the consequences her stroke had on her life. “I was left-handed and learned to write with a right hand […] I have a brace that allows me to walk.” However, this did not prevent the young girl from surfing and carrying the Olympic flame in .
