The individual suspected of having committed several violent attacksincluding one occurring in July 2024 in the Golden Fleece district in Dijon, was arrested on a train at Toulon station this Tuesday, November 12, according to police sources cited by AFP. The suspect, who is believed to be homeless, is also involved in other similar attacks in Lyon, Évry, Strasbourg and Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
The man whose identity is being verified is among others suspected of assaulting a 42-year-old woman on July 25 in Dijon. According to the public prosecutor of Dijon, Olivier Caratoch, the individual allegedly hit him several times stone blows to the headresulting in temporary incapacity for work for 10 days.
And search warrant had been issued against him by the Dijon public prosecutor's office in August 2024, as well as a obligation to leave French territory (OQTF).
A leak across all of France…
The suspect is said to have managed to evade the authorities on several occasions, regularly changing his identity. Before his arrest in Toulon, he was identified thanks to images circulating on social networks. Shortly before this arrest, he allegedly assaulted a passenger on board the Nice-Marseille train, which led to his arrest.
The man is also suspected of having murdered a homeless man in Lyonduring an attack carried out on the night of November 11 to 12 using a concrete block. The same procedure was observed during three other attacks occurred in October and November in Évry, Strasbourg and Rotterdam.
In Évry, he would have seriously injured a man by attacking him with a curbrequiring 45 days of ITT for the victim. In Strasbourg, a homeless man is currently in a coma after a similar attack on October 31.

In the Netherlandsthe authorities are examining his involvement in an attack against a homeless man in Rotterdamseriously injured with a large tile between November 4 and 5. The Dutch police had issued a wanted notice with a precise description of the man, indicating that he had been seen on board a train in direction of Belgium.
DNA analyzes are currently underway to confirm the links between these different attacks, a judicial source told AFP.
