Welcome » Sport » Collin Benjamin, Namibia coach: “My players know they can compete with anyone”

A few hours before meeting Cameroon for the 5th day of qualifiers for the Morocco 2025 World Cup, Namibia coach Collin Benjamin looks back on the developments in the group he leads.

According to Collin Benjamin, the biggest evolution his team has had has been confidence, with the certainty gained by his players that they can now compete with their opponents.

“Our biggest advances have been in trust. For example, we went to the CAN, where we qualified even though we don’t play at home and we don’t have a stadium. It’s not a secret, everyone knows it. It took a lot of courage for us to reach the round of 16 of the CAN. We can press our opponents and compete with them,” said coach Collin Benjamin in an interview with FIFA.

According to Collin Benjamin, this development is the biggest change in his eyes. And the identity of the opponent doesn’t matter much to his players today.

“For me, the players’ confidence is the biggest change I’ve seen in them. They believe in themselves and they are confident. They know they can compete with anyone, be it a player from Morocco, Egypt, Senegal or Cameroon, as long as they are fit,” added Collin Benjamin.

Namibia will play against Cameroon this Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Orlando Stadium, South Africa.
