Puente cancels his trip to Valencia this afternoon and fears the suspension of work due to the rains

The Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, has canceled his trip to Valencia scheduled for this afternoon in order to personally supervise the progress in the reconstruction of critical infrastructure devastated by the flood on October 29. “The meteorological circumstances advise that I postpone it out of caution,” he stated on his account on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

The ministry fears that the heavy rains expected in Valencia will force work to be suspended and even damage some of the repairs. The most exposed could be the detour in the bypass of the A-7 near Quart de Poblet, built on concrete blocks in the last week to replace the viaduct that collapsed due to the scourge of the damage. The forecast is that this new passage will open to traffic between tonight and tomorrow morning, but everything depends on the action of the new storm.

Preventive measures have been taken by Transport to respond to the alerts in Catalonia or Andalusia. In the province of Malaga, the Málaga-Antequera-Seville Media Distancia railway service has been suspended and the Málaga Cercanías train service is under observation.

In Catalonia, and at the request of the Mossos, access to the A-27, towards Tarragona, has been cut off at the junctions between kilometer point 13 and 23 (in the El Rourell Valls section). Traffic is also avoided in the N-240 tunnel towards Tarragona, at the roundabout at kilometer 29,300, and at the access to Coll de Lilla towards Tarragona. Vehicles are only allowed to travel through these roads to provide essential services.

Already yesterday it was decided to close the Rodalíes R15 railway line between Reus-Mora, Caspe and Zaragoza; The shuttle service between Tarragona and Saloú-Port Aventura (R17) was suspended, and speed is limited on the Torotosa-L’Aldea section of the R16.
