FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Today was a crystal clear, but chilly November day with highs struggling to make it to 50º! The average high temperature for November 12th is 51º, so as cool as it felt this is pretty average. Lows tonight will also fall to close-to-average levels, bottoming out in the low 30s.
Wednesday will feature mostly cloudy skies ahead of our next weather system which is bringing snow to the Intermountain West. However, unlike our friends 1500+ miles away, we don’t have any cold air to take advantage of when this system arrives Wednesday night! Therefore, rain is expected from a little after sunset Wednesday through about midday Thursday. Total rainfall projections haven’t changed much since yesterday, ranging from 0.30″ to 0.50″ with some localized higher amounts.
As this system wraps up and moves east it will likely instigate a lake effect response, meaning a few showers/clouds from Lake Michigan will keep things a little gray around here through the end of the week.
YOUR NEXT FIRST ALERT: The weekend will likely start on a sunny note, but end on a cloudy one (that sounds familiar!), and a rather gloomy weather pattern will likely stick around through much of next week. The big question mark is a strong storm system that long range forecast models keep hinting at toward the END of next week. Verbatim, it would mean a much colder, potentially…wintry weather pattern? All we can do at this stage is give you the ‘first alert’ that this has been a consistent theme in forecast modeling and we’re keeping an eye on it, but to say anything else would venture too far into speculation ???? We don’t typically trust forecast model data until these patterns can be reflected in our 7 day forecast!
