Two people died after a paragliding accident

A 51-year-old and a 45-year-old had a fatal accident during a tandem paragliding flight at Clariden. The exact cause of the accident is not yet clear.

Tragic accident in Spiringen on Sunday: Two people died in a paragliding accident. As the Uri canton police write, the police were informed by Rega shortly after 2 p.m. about a paragliding accident at Clariden. The emergency services from the Uri cantonal police then immediately went to the scene of the accident.

According to the police’s initial findings, the accident occurred after the start of a paragliding tandem flight below a pre-peak of the Clariden. For reasons that are still unclear, the team ran into difficulties shortly after take-off and subsequently crashed into the north face of the Clariden, killing a 51-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman.

The exact course of the accident is the subject of ongoing investigations. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office, which is responsible for aviation accidents, is responsible for managing the proceedings. The parallel investigations by the Federal Prosecutor’s Office are being carried out with the support of the Uri Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Uri Cantonal Police.
