The other Brazilians
On the main card, Luana Pinheiro represented Brazil and faced Canadian Gillian Robertson. The woman from Paraíba, especially in the first part of the duel, stopped her rival's takedowns and tried to make more trouble with her striking to seek victory. Robertson, however, knew how to position himself to stop the Brazilian's advances and, as the fight progressed, he continued to use grappling well to control the fight and achieve victory, in addition to imposing Luana's third consecutive defeat.
The Brazilian presence was also present on the preliminary card of UFC Vegas 100. Facing veteran Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Denise Gomes went head-to-head from the beginning of the fight, throwing her punches well and managing to give the Polish woman a 'swing' in the second round. The fight was quite balanced, based on striking and strong clinches. It was only in the last few minutes that the Polish woman went for the takedown, tried her back, but narrowly missed out on the submission. Best overall Denise took home another triumph in Ultimate.
Needing to recover from his defeat, Elizeu Capoeira faced Zach Scroggin and took no notice of the American. The experienced fighter had a practically flawless fight, doing well initially with the low kicks on Scroggin. Already taking control of the fight, the Paraná native landed a powerful right hand that took down his rival. Afterwards, he began to dominate with ground and pound until the fight was ended by the referee and the Brazilian's rehabilitation was confirmed.
Antônio Trócoli was not as lucky. The 'Evil' got into action to face Tresean Gore and recover from his UFC debut defeat. The duel began with a strong clinch and, at the moment the Bahian went for the takedown, his neck was left unprotected and the American took the opportunity to seek the guillotine while standing. Without any major problems, Gore completed the finish and managed to keep the Brazilian 'zero' in the organization.
