Haute-Corse on orange “rain-flood” alert from 2 p.m., Bouches-du-Rhône placed in yellow “storms”

In Provence, the weather will be rather mixed this weekend of November 9 and 10. Significant precipitation is forecast on Saturday before the possible return of the sun on Sunday.

The north of Corsica is the subject of particular attention on Saturday November 9 afternoon. Haute-Corse goes into orange “rain-flood” vigilance from 2 p.m., Météo- informs.

Rains”temporarily strong and stormy” are expected on the eastern coast of Corsica, mainly in Haute-Corse, indicates Météo-France which specifies that “the intensities could be around 30 to 50 mm per hour in places, and the accumulations could approach 80 to 120 mm in three to six hours.“. Over the entire episode, the accumulations “are likely to occasionally reach 150 mm, or even a little more“.

This orange alert, accompanied by a yellow thunderstorm watch, will be in effect from 3:00 p.m. until Sunday morning.

Five other departments in the south of France, Bouches-du-Rhône, Corse-du-Sud, Landes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques and , are on yellow thunderstorm alert.

The meteorological service, on the other hand, has downgraded Hérault to yellow vigilance, the last department affected by an episode of strong storms accompanied by showers which affected the Gulf of Lion.

According to the Météo-France press release published shortly after 6:00 a.m., 80 to 100 mm of precipitation could be observed in a very localized manner in Hérault, on the coast between and Sète, during this episode of strong storms.
