Goalie Frederik Rönnow saved Union Berlin another point with a saved penalty. Thanks to the Dane’s great performance, the Berliners remain unbeaten in their home stadium and draw 0-0 against Freiburg on Friday.
The decisive scene of the game took place early in the first half. Vincenzo Grifo failed with his penalty kick in the 22nd minute. Goalie Rönnow had already saved a penalty from Lois Openda at Leipzig and secured a draw for the Berliners.
Because after the game both Junior Adamu and Christian Günter and very late Philipp Lienhart despaired of Berlin’s solid defense, there were no goals to marvel at until the end of the game. With the draw, Freiburg keeps Union behind in the top third of the table, but misses out on the temporary jump to third place. (DPA/nka)
