Mick Schumacher’s comeback “unrealistic”
With the signing of Gabriel Bortoleto at Sauber, Mick Schumacher’s last hopes of a comeback in Formula 1 have now been dashed. Because virtually all places for 2025 have been officially allocated.
Mick’s uncle and expert Ralf Schumacher also explains this situation Sky: “For Mick, the topic of Formula 1 is unfortunately rather unrealistic, unless someone is unavailable due to illness.”
The only option left for Schumacher is to continue to wait for his chance as a substitute driver. “He’s definitely disappointed, but he can deal with the decision,” said Ralf Schumacher about his nephew.
He also emphasizes that Bortoleto is a “good” choice for Sauber. “I think it’s good that the team is taking a new path with a young driver who has won Formula 3 and is currently leading Formula 2,” he explains.
“It’s a similar level to Oscar Piastri,” praises Schumacher and explains: “I think the combination of him as a young talent and the experienced Nico Hülkenberg is good.”
Stella: Rules for aborted takeoffs could be clearer
While we’re at the Brazilian GP again: the aborted start there continues to cause discussions. Because McLaren team boss Andrea Stella is of the opinion that the wording of the rules is not entirely clear.
This is especially true given that the decision to cancel the start was only made when the cars were already back on the starting grid. “If you look at the wording of the regulations, it’s a little tricky,” says Stella.
“Because in the additional formation round there is a delayed one [Start] “Then there was talk of aborting the start and returning to the starting grid,” explains the Italian.
“So there are some technical subtleties that improve the situation for Lando [Norris] might have made things a little confusing. I think he simply reacted to the traffic lights,” said Stella in defense of his driver, who received a penalty there.

Max Verstappen set a new record in Brazil at the weekend that went somewhat under the radar.
By winning from 17th place on the grid, he has now won at least one Formula 1 race from ten different positions.
No one has ever achieved this before him. Unsurprisingly, the Dutchman took most of his victories from pole.
In addition, he has already won from places 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 10, 14 and now also 17. The Dutchman has never won from further back than on Sunday.
But he doesn’t hold the record for the greatest comeback in Formula 1 history…
