Pierre Arditi: the passion for comedy still intact
Interviewed by West Francethe 79-year-old actor said he has no plans to stop acting just yet. “My breathing is theater. On stage, the audience's reward or sentence is immediate. In cinema, the director is the captain of the boat. Once we've shot the film, we wave the handkerchief and watch the ship leave without us.” he explained, adding: “I will have all the time to retire. Being an actor is a life choice and a reward. We don't want it to end.”
In 2023, shortly after his hospitalization, he confided to our colleagues: “I'm going to die doing this. Retirement for actors is death. I’m not dead, I’m going to continue a little longer.”
