The big organized clearance sale, Saturday October 12, 2024by the Gaillon (Eure) antenna of the Red Cross in the parking lot of Credit Agricole was a great success. A wide choice of items, new and second-hand, was offered, including clothing for women, men and children, as well as small bazaar, crockery and toys.
“It’s both a call for solidarity and a great opportunity to do some good business,” said a walker who came to do some shopping.
Commitment to precariousness
Mireille Petitpresident of the territorial delegation of Eure and member of the Gaillon branch, recalled: “There are more and more people in precarious situations around us, in Gaillon too, particularly with the increase in requests for 'asylum'.
Fortunately, the Red Cross can count on a group of dedicated volunteers to ensure the proper functioning of its branch in Gaillon, which is in increasing demand.
Chantal Mertes, volunteer since 2007
As such, Chantal Mertes was honored. She received the bronze medal for her long-standing commitment. An active member of the Red Cross since 2007, Chantal, a resident of Notre-Dame-de-l'Isle, was an employee of the Red Cross then a volunteer before being elected secretary of the local unit in 2021.
“A big thank you, once again, to the Crédit Agricole Gaillon agency which graciously lends us its parking for our clearance sale as well as to the town hall for the loan of tents and tables. The administrators of the local fund also provide us with valuable help”
The Red Cross store, 6 rue du Four in Baon, remains open every Tuesday all day and Friday mornings.
