The kitchen and bathroom design company, Oskab, was placed in compulsory liquidation by the Lille commercial court this Wednesday, November 6, BFM Grand Lille has learned.
No buyer has come forward to save the company, whose headquarters is in Marcq-en-Baroeul. The closure is immediate since the Wasquehal site lowers the curtain this afternoon, only a few hours after the hearing. The sign is also already displayed as permanently closed on Google.
Oskab did not survive the real estate crisis as well as the inflation caused by the war in Ukraine. Declines have been estimated between -15 and -30% since the start of the year. Before that, however, it had managed to do well against giants in the sector like Castorama and Leroy Merlin. After ten years of good growth, it almost reached 30 million euros in turnover.
134 employees affected in Wasquehal
A job protection plan (PSE) was discussed this summer, proposing the elimination of 50 positions, according to employee representatives. It was unsuccessful because, given the seriousness of the situation, a request for judicial recovery was made. 134 employees are affected in Wasquehal.
At BFM Grand Lille, employees say they are relieved that it is over, and speak of the last few trying weeks. They also claim that all customer orders have been fulfilled, and solutions have been found for all customers.
