On June 30, 2024, it was after an evening during which he consumedalcohol and narcotics that a 23-year-old young man returned to his mother's home, in Eu, in Seine-Maritime.
Without really knowing why, he immediately gets angry and insults his mother, the menace and hits his stepfather. He grabs a knife and cuts himself before his mother manages to snatch it from him.
The police are called to the rescue and when they arrive, the young man is smoking a joint.
“A big freak out”
“I was completely drunk, I had a major meltdown,” explains the defendant, indicating that he in no way questions his mother’s version: “if she says it, it’s because it’s TRUE “.
He also confesses that things really don't go well with his father-in-law: “we don't talk to each other and we try not to cross paths.”
The judge recalls that beyond the threats and violence, the defendant also made an action which could have had dramatic consequences by pouring water on electrical wires.
For the Deputy Public Prosecutor, the only solution involves a exit from addictions.
It requires a three-month prison sentence with a two-year probationary suspension requiring work and addiction care as well as a ban on possessing a weapon for three years.
The defendant's lawyer points out that her client's criminal record is clean and that he receives invaluable help from his grandparents, who are present in the courtroom to support him.
However, the court follows the requisitions by adding an obligation of psychological care.
