Obituary | Audrey G. Rieger of New Ulm, Minnesota

Audrey G. Rieger, age 84, of New Ulm, died Saturday, November 2, 2024 at the New Ulm Medical Center.

Funeral service will be 11 am on Monday, November 11, 2024, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home – SOUTH Chapel in New Ulm. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1-4 pm on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-SOUTH Chapel in New Ulm.  The visitation will continue one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.

Audrey is survived by her daughters, Michelle (Greg) Fluegge of New Ulm and Dawn (Allen) Oswald of rural Lafayette; sons, Todd (Dawn) Rieger of New Ulm and Kurt (Amy) Rieger of Dassell; 10 grandchildren, Scott (Rachel), Linda (Ralph), Nathan, LeighAnn (Alec), Megan (Tyler), Nicole, Matt, Ethan (Sarah), Hannah, and Erik;  9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Trullinger of Hanover, MN and Patricia (Fred) Valdez of Denver, CO; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Quentin in 2007; her parents; brother, Melvin (Mabel) Ewy; a sister, Louise (Vic) Greier; and brother-in-law, Roy Trullinger.

Audrey Geneva Ewy was born on October 1, 1940 in St. James, MN to Alfred & Geneva Ewy. She attended District 28 school through the 8th grade and then graduated from St. James High School in 1958. Audrey then attended Mankato State College. She was united in marriage to Quentin “Wimpy” Rieger on February 8, 1964 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Mankato. Audrey worked 28 years as a cook at the New Ulm Junior High School. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and canning vegetables from her garden. In addition, playing cards and putting puzzles together were a favorite pastime, and Audrey also loved watching all Minnesota sports teams.
