iOS 18, launched shortly before the iPhone 16, did not lack important new features. The release of Apple's operating system update notably marked the long-awaited arrival of RCS (Rich Communication Services) on iPhone. Problem is, only one operator has got in tune with this new feature, namely SFR. Subscribers to Free, Bouygues Telecom and Orange must make do with traditional SMS for the moment. Good news, the situation has just changed for two of them, since Free and Bouygues Telecom finally support RCS thanks to iOS 18.2.
After SFR, Free and Bouygues Telecom also support RCS on iPhone
Free announces, still with its characteristic humor, that it will very soon support RCS on iPhone. The protocol is already available with the second developer beta of iOS 18.2 at Free, but also at Bouygues Telecom thanks to the update of the operator configuration. All subscribers will therefore be able to benefit from it as the public version of iOS 18.2 launches in December.
Remember that the RCS allows you to exchange high definition files, obtain acknowledgments of receipt and readings or even share your geolocation. Of course, for this to work, your interlocutor must also activate the RCS. Unfortunately, Orange remains for the moment the only major French operator not to support the protocol.
Please note, the company may very well come forward to announce the availability of RCS on iOS 18.2 by the beginning of December. The release of the third developer beta of iOS 18.2 will be closely scrutinized by Orange subscribers impatiently awaiting this functionality.
