“I’m a bit rumpled”

The fifth season of Walks in has just started. What's new in this program?

This year, we are focusing on industrial tourism, offering visits to places such as certain nuclear power plants, the Airbus factory in or even shipyards…

Which personality would you have liked to host a show with?

Sacha Guitry, because he was cultured, curious, charismatic. He would have been the ideal partner for a quality television show.

What moments have marked you during your thirty-two years of Telematin ?

The first day, January 10, 1985, because I was on cloud nine. And the last day, June 30, 2017, because I couldn't say everything I felt. I recorded my goodbyes the day before to avoid doing them live with sobs in my voice.

The people who mattered most in your life?

My older brother, Serge. My hero, my role model, unfortunately passed away too soon. On the professional side, I owe a lot to the producer Jacqueline Joubert who gave me my chance at the start of my career.

The object that crosses generations in your family?

A pair of glasses purchased from the American troops headquarters by my father when, in their wake, he landed in Provence in 1944. My brother Serge inherited them. It now belongs to me and I plan to pass it on to Géry, my eldest son.

A hidden talent?

I'm a bit “rough”. On the weekends, I mop the floors, I scrub, I dust. I even shined my children's shoes when they were younger.

You have three days, a backpack and no car. Where are you going ?

In Saint-Jean-de-Luz (Pyrénées-Atlantiques), on a motorbike with sidecar, accompanied by my girlfriend (Sophie Davant, Editor’s note).

A place where you like to recharge your batteries?

I like the smell of incense… Every time I visit a city, I start with a church, preferably empty.

We offer you a minute of silence, what do you do with it?

I am offering it to the parents of Philippine, cowardly murdered in the de Boulogne in September.

Pope Francis grants you an audience. What question is burning on your lips?

Your Holiness, should France not further assert its status as the eldest daughter of the Church, a status that we sometimes tend to forget?
