The pill is bitter for the island clubs, during this twelfth day of the L2 championship. Like SC on Saturday afternoon, given their performance, the Acéistes did not deserve to lose to FC Metz.

“In terms of pressing and intensity, we did what we wanted to do since the start of the season. I am sad and disappointed for my players, who showed such a riot of energy. C “This is perhaps the match where we created the most chances…”

But Mathieu Chabert knows, a football match is not won by the number of chances.

And like Sporting two days earlier, ACA lacked two things. Realism and success.

Yesterday evening, on the pitch of the Michel Moretti stadium, the first half hour of play was undoubtedly Ajaccian. Confiscating the ball, Barreto and his teammates dominate. Jabol-Folcarelli, with a header, even makes Sy's crossbar tremble. Despite a few solitary raids from Sabaly, the ACA settled in front of the Metz goal.

The opening score, however, will be messy. In the 29th minute, the visitors obtained their first corner of the match. Anziani, with an uncertain pass to Sollacaro, allows Hein to grab the ball and send it into the back of the net (0 – 1).

About ten minutes later, the Ajaccian goalkeeper, with the tip of his gloves, deflects a shot from Boleke and allows his team not to return to the locker room with an even heavier score.

This first open period, at a brisk pace, nevertheless leaves a bitter taste for Ajaccian supporters.

And the next 45 minutes will not make them smile again. The Aceists maintain control of the ball but struggle to be as sharp as in the first half, despite Ibayi's great opportunity in the 70th minute.

Metz is determined to come away with the three points, and resists the Ajaccian pushes, sometimes a little messy as the minutes pass.

With this new defeat, the third in a row, the ACA is now in 16th place in the ranking, with one match less (the derby against the SCB, stopped, will be played on December 3).

But Mathieu Chabert does not stop at the figures. And wants to be optimistic: “It's hard to find the words, after the match we had, but we have to continuego this route because it is by playing matches like that that we will gain points. That’s a certainty.”

The next ACA match is against Clermont, again at home, Friday November 8.
