Baltasar Ebang Engonga affair: the presidency announces sanctions

The Baltasar Ebang Engonga affair is for him a case which should serve as a lesson to administration executives who confuse their offices with private spaces. Through a message posted on X this Saturday, the Equatorial Guinean Vice President reminded that state offices are not brothels.

He firmly clarified that the administration premises are strictly dedicated to “administrative tasks for the development of the country” and that “ it is forbidden to have sex in offices “. He added that “monitoring mechanisms are already in place, and anyone found to be in violation of this rule again will be subject to disciplinary action for misconduct and will be removed from office.”

The Baltasar Ebang Engonga affair boils down to the dissemination of several compromising videos in which the accused and various women appear in erotic scenes, some filmed in administrative offices. It is this use of public premises which triggered the anger of the Vice-President.

At this stage, there is no question of rape or sexual harassment in the legal proceedings. However, the courts have opened an investigation to verify whether Baltasar Ebang Engonga was not a carrier of a sexually transmitted disease and if he knowingly endangered his sexual partners.
