Ruben Van Gucht candid about infamous love life

In ‘The House’ Eric Goens delves into the life of a famous Flemish person: from their past to their career to controversial moments in their lives. His next guest is none other than sports journalist Ruben Van Gucht (37), who has experienced several controversial moments in the past year and is now talking about them very honestly.

‘The House’ is now in its tenth season and is known for the honest and open conversations that take place there. Presenter Eric Goens also makes this happen in the second episode of this new season, with Ruben Van Gucht as guest.

The sports journalist has had an eventful year: he obviously worked his butt off during the past sports summer, but was also often discredited due to his private life.

There is no Flemish person who has not seen the infamous video in which Ruben reports and we see women’s legs on the bed in the background. Especially when it turned out that those legs did not belong to his Croatian wife Blanka Vlašić. And of course Eric can’t resist asking Ruben about it.

Candid

When Eric asks him what type of relationship he has with his wife – with whom he also has a two-year-old son – Ruben answers very honestly. ‘I don’t like to put terms on it, because people like to put a stamp on it. It doesn’t matter, it’s my private life,” Ruben replies.

‘But I have a life in Belgium and I have a life in Croatia, also relationally. And there is always very open communication with the people involved. No one in the world has to worry about them. Everyone knows everything and can leave even if they don’t like it.’

Don’t interfere!

It is clear that the sports anchor has gradually had enough of all the accusations, opinions and gossip. He also made this clear in an interview on Radio2 with Peter Van de Veire. Everything was said with the sentence ‘Mind your own business’.

‘People can comment on how I do my job, because I am a public figure, but not on what goes on in my private life. I also have the right to a private life,” the journalist said.

Ruben also talks about his son Mondo, his maniacal tendencies and his difficult childhood as an outsider.

You watch ‘The House’ with Ruben Van Gucht on Tuesday, November 5 at 8:40 PM on VRT 1 and via VRT MAX.
