Brandon Moreno silenced his detractors with an all-time great performance against Amir Albazi at UFC Edmonton.
Moreno defeated Albazi in the UFC Edmonton headliner on Saturday by unanimous decision. The former UFC titleholder used his boxing, speed, and technique to leave Albazi a bloody mess after five rounds of action.
After back-to-back losses in five-round fights, Moreno was looking to make a statement in Edmonton. Amidst the crowded UFC flyweight title picture, Moreno had been overlooked after some recent impressive performances by some of the top contenders.
The usually respectful Moreno, after dominating one of the division’s surging stars, gave a stark warning to his flyweight counterparts following UFC Edmonton.

During his post-fight Octagon interview with Daniel Cormier, Moreno sent a chilling message to the rest of the UFC flyweight division.
“Man, I wanna eat! I wanna eat a lot,” Moreno said. “I just want to be on the top again, I want my title back! This is just a reminder for the rest of the division, I never say nothing! I’m always very respectful to everybody
“But put someone here and I’ll be the baddest f***ing person on the planet!”
Moreno took months away from fighting after a disappointing loss to Brandon Royval in Mexico City in February. Before that, he lost the UFC flyweight title to Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 290.

Moreno stopped Albazi’s unbeaten UFC run with the win at UFC Edmonton. The victory cemented himself into either a No. 1 contender fight or the next title shot against the Pantoja vs. Kai Asakura winner.
As for Albazi, the loss snapped an impressive win streak in the UFC, including wins over Kai Kara-France and Francisco Figueiredo. After overcoming some severe health issues just months before UFC Edmonton, Albazi inspired with his toughness and grit against Moreno.
Moreno could potentially face a former interim title foe for his next UFC assignment. Kara-France knocked out former title challenger Steve Erceg at UFC 305 to stake his claim to a No. 1 contender matchup.
Moreno and Kara-France fought for the interim UFC flyweight title at UFC 277. He finished Kara-France with a body kick and ground strikes to earn his fourth booking against Deiveson Figueiredo.
After his triumphant comeback at UFC Edmonton, Moreno has plenty of intriguing options for his next fight. In the meantime, it sounds like he’ll enjoy some needed downtime and quality food.
