Made impossible due to heavy downpours, the qualifying session for the Brazilian GP was postponed until Sunday (11:30 a.m. Paris time).
This Saturday in Brazil, torrential rain fell on the Sao Paulo region. These apocalyptic weather conditions made it complicated to hold the qualifying session for the Brazilian Grand Prix which was due to start at 7 p.m. (Paris time). Delayed, this was rescheduled after half an hour to 8 p.m. However, the Interlagos circuit remained impassable and the rain continued to fall. Consequently, after several procrastinations, the FIA had to face the facts and postpone qualifying for the Brazilian GP until the next day.
In the evening, the organizers announced that this session establishing the order of the Grand Prix starting grid will take place at 11:30 a.m. (Paris time). Then during the day, the start of the race has been brought forward to 4:30 p.m.. This rehabilitation is surprising because earlier this Saturday, the sprint race took place in ideal conditions. Lando Norris triumphed but on orders from McLaren, his teammate Oscar Piastri rolled out the red carpet for him. Max Verstappen (Red Bull) finished in third position but a five-second penalty following an illegal overtaking during the presence of the safety car demoted him to 4th place, in favor of Charles Leclerc (Ferrari).
