Spain hit hard by deadly floods
There is a shortage of food in Valencia, southeast of Spain. In the region devastated by apocalyptic floods, residents are looking for something to eat and drink. Among them, Sarah Lukaszow and her brother Maxime, a French family who live in the region. For four days, this dental prosthetist, who has been living in Alfafar for five years, has no longer been able to do her shopping. The hypermarket stalls where they are used to shopping are empty, robbed or looted by residents in need. No other businesses are open. On a random street, they come across José Antonio who is distributing food.
Solidarity between residents is taking shape
“I have a restaurant outside the city of Valencia. When I saw all this disaster, the lack of food and the absence of a supermarket to do the shopping, I decided to be supportive, of course”explains this restaurateur, as we can see in the video at the top of the article.
“It’s heartwarming, it’s nice to see that people, despite everything that’s happening, are united. A simple bottle of water, it’s true that it moves us”admits Sarah with tears in her eyes. Because living in Alfafa now feels like survival.

“There's no more electricity, so we can't keep anything in the fridge. We had chicken, we're going to have to throw it away. We're going to have to eat things as quickly as possible so as not to lose anything.” she whispers in front of her refrigerator. Friday evening, thousands of people were still without electricity and access to drinking water. Putting everything back together will take several weeks.
