Conor McGregor has let rip at Belal Muhammad in a social media rant.
The former dual-weight champion has made it clear that he’s not a fan of ‘Remember The Name’, who recently beat Leon Edwards to take his welterweight title.
Muhammad was supposed to defend against Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310 on December 7, but he was forced to withdraw from the bout after contracting a ‘bone infection’ that left one of his toes badly swollen.
‘Notorious’ responded by posting two crying laughing emojis underneath photos of the gnarly injury, and now all hell has broken loose between the two men.
Conor McGregor tweets and deletes Belal Muhammad rant
Belal Muhammad responded to McGregor’s unsympathetic comment by posting a picture of a needle in his arm and accusing the Irishman – without any evidence – of abusing drugs.
He tweeted: “I have this for antibiotics.. you use needles because you are junkie.. we are not the same.”
McGregor hit back with a wide-ranging post, which has since been deleted. It reveled in Muhammad’s withdrawal, while simultaneously mocking his fighting style and infected foot before calling for the UFC to strip him of his title.
The 36-year-old went as far as to suggest Muhammad should be cut by Dana White.
“Scutter talk like your fighting,” McGregor wrote on X. “You lambasted UFC world champions multiple times on having to reschedule their bouts through injury, and now it has come down on you like a bomb from the sky.
“It is glorious to see! No fight. No money. But staph infection hahahaja LOL!
“Bum! Stripped! Instantly. Zero knockdowns/any excitement or traffic or views or ticket sales in bout, and now also non reliable? Strip. Cut. Infected fighter. You have infections.”
Belal Muhammad’s old posts come back to haunt him
In the immediate aftermath of his withdrawal from UFC 310, an old tweet began circulating online and it showed Muhammad mocking McGregor for pulling out of UFC 303 for a similar reason.
McGregor broke his pinky toe in training before calling off his fight with Michael Chandler, which was supposed to headline on June 29.
Muhammad rubbed salt into the fresh wound by saying: “My toe was a balloon.”
The American, who was born to Palestinian parents, was just as unsympathetic when Charles Oliveira got cut and pulled out of a fight with lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in October 2023.
“Charles got what he wanted, he is not fighting in Abu Dhabi,” Muhammad said on Instagram. “As a fighter, you understand the game, right? The training is the hardest part.
“But the biggest fight of your life, the biggest rematch of your life, you get a cut 10 days before the fight on your eyebrow? Like, who are you training with, bro? I’ve been in the training room, I’ve seen it happen.”
“Anthony Pettis, before his fight with Dustin Poirier, one week before, he got split open. The world didn’t know about it. Anthony got it surgically repaired, stitched up. It opened up in the fight, but he still went in there and fought.
“To me, Charles never wanted to go to Abu Dhabi. He never wanted to fight in enemy territory, as he said. Do I say he did it purposefully? Who knows? But he chose not to fight.”
Fans have been quick to remind Muhammad about his comments about McGregor and Oliveira after he withdrew from UFC 310.
