The rainfall recorded during the last hours in the province of Huelva has left 79 incidents in the province, the total of which during the entire dana now amounts to 86 emergencies due to flooding of basements, streets and homes ground floor, mostly in the towns of Cartaya, Aljaraque, the capital and Punta Umbría. Likewise, cases have also been received, although more isolated, in Lucena del Puerto, Gibraleón or Palos de la Frontera, among others, according to the Emergency Coordination Center (Cecem 112).

During the early hours of the morning, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) activated the red notice -extreme risk- due to the possibility of very intense rains in the areas of Andévalo, Condado and the Huelva coast. This warning level has been extended until 12:00 p.m. this Friday on the coast, while in the rest of the province it will continue to be orange.

Among the warnings received are flooding of ground floor of hotel, nursing home and garages in Huelva; while in Punta Umbría, around twenty minors have been left incommunicado in a country house when the access road was affected by the rain.

The rainfall is also affecting traffic on the H-30 due to the accumulation of water at kilometer 12 in the capital of Huelva.

The Andalusian Emergency Group (GREA) has moved to the Junta Government Delegation in Huelva as the nerve center of coordination in this province and to deploy more quickly to any other point in the province if necessary to deploy the Post. of Advanced Command. The deputy director of Emergencies is also there as director of the Emergency.

The accumulated total of emergencies left by the storm in the Andalusian autonomous community now amounts to 1,767, of which 523 have been attended to in the province of Cádiz, 478 in Málaga, 223 in Granada, 211 in Seville, 152 in Almería , 51 in Jaén and 33 in Córdoba.

Rain warnings and advice

The red warning for rain that affects Huelva will change to orange – a significant risk – starting at nine in the morning and will remain that way, according to Aemet forecasts, until midnight. In the province of Seville the warning is yellow until 10:00 am today.

Given the rain warnings, 112 recommends extreme caution and adopting some self-protection guidelines that help prevent risks and guarantee everyone’s safety.

It is preferable to avoid traveling by road. If it is essential to travel, it is important to find out, before leaving, the state of the roads you are going to travel on and once on the way, follow the instructions on information panels and authority agents, as well as stay informed through of the radio of the recommendations of the competent authorities and services.

In the rain, extreme caution should be taken when driving, reduce speed and increase the safety distance. You should never cross through a flooded area or with pools of water. If you have crossed a flooded area for any reason, then you must test the brakes by lightly pulsing them to check that they work. If we are also surprised by a strong flood of water inside the vehicle, we must prepare to abandon it immediately when the water exceeds the wheel axle.

You should also not camp or park near river beds even if they are dry to avoid being surprised by a sudden rise in water.

In the countryside and during storms, trees and isolated or solitary stones attract lightning, so they should be avoided, as should metal objects. In coastal areas and during stormy weather, you should avoid walking along promenades, breakwater areas and viewpoints. The waves can suddenly drag us into the sea.

112 recommends staying calm and following information from official sources on social networks and the media to avoid rumors and false information, and in case of emergency, call 112, a service available 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
