Is David Hubert taking a risk? In any case, he doesn’t give this youngster a “gift” during the Cup match – Tout le football

Amando Lapage does not start this Thursday in the Croky Cup. A decision by David Hubert which may surprise.

Little surprise at the kick-off of Tubize-Braine – RSC Anderlecht: David Hubert chose not to give a chance to the only youngster who could have made his debut this evening. Tristan Degreef, as expected, does indeed start in midfield but no trace ofLoving Lapage (19 years old), who will therefore have to wait a little longer before proving himself.

By making this choice, Hubert is taking a risk with this audience that he had already put in his pocket since his arrival (notably by daring to launch Degreef, unlike Brian Riemer). Indeed, instead of Lapage, he decides to field Zanka, who has been in great difficulty in recent weeks.

It’s hard to imagine Tubize-Braine, a modest D1 ACFF team, putting the Danish defender in difficulty… but Zanka will have an interest in convincing and avoiding mistakes. Because this start in the Croky Cup could well be a hand extended by his coach, so that he regains his confidence. He really needs it.

Lapage will keep patience

And to be honest, Hubert really needs it: by having to remove Zanka from the eleven, the Anderlecht T1 has few options at his disposal, and therefore recently had to “sacrifice” Leander Dendoncker in a central defender role. The “least worst” decision? We can doubt it given the captain’s catastrophic match in Bruges.

Seeing Zanka have a good match again would therefore be good news on this level too. But this is also where the lack of attention paid to Amando Lapage, head of the (admittedly permeable) defense of RSCA Futures, is surprising. Indeed, many expect to see Paul Van Himst’s grandson emerge in the A team in the medium term. The “In youth we trust” project is now dated, but Neerpede must remain a source of pride for the supporters and the club.

This match on paper accessible to Tubize-Braine seemed the ideal moment to launch Lapage. David Hubert sends a clear message: playing in the A team will not be “easy” and not a “gift”, but rather a carefully considered decision by the coach. Even if it means making people unhappy. Amando Lapage will be, but he is patient and not the type to kick in…
