Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: the sequel to the police comedy Tender Chicken.
Do you want to have a good time watching a fast-paced comedy from the 80s? Good news, this evening, Arte is offering viewers the opportunity to (re)discover a jubilant film with two stars of French cinema.
Released at the cinema in 1980, We stole Jupiter's thigh by Philippe de Broca (The Man from Rio, The Magnificent, or The Incorrigible…) follows the story of newlyweds, Lise Tanquerelle and Antoine Lemercier, in honeymoon in Greece.
Arriving in the country, they meet Charles-Hubert Pochet, an archaeologist who discovered a marble of Aphrodite of which only the hips and buttocks remain, and his wife, Agnès. But that same night, the ancient piece is stolen. When it is finally found by Lise, the archaeologist and Antoine Lemercier are suspected of the murder of the thief.
If you liked the comedy Tender Chicken from Philippe de Brocayou will probably be seduced by We stole Jupiter's thighsince it is the sequel. At the casting, we melt in front of the duo Annie Girardot and Philippe Noiret. A beautiful duo that always works perfectly.
An old-fashioned comedy as we like it
Like any good self-respecting adventure comedy, We stole Jupiter's thigh offers spectators funny and tasty dialogues (example in particular with the famous line “Name of Zeus, the culs of Aphrodite!“), a scenario full of twists and turns by Michel Audiard, or a breathtaking setting with superb Greek landscapes.
We immediately let ourselves be seduced by this fascinating investigation brought to the screen by this 5-star quartet: the irresistible Girardot-Noiret duo, to which is added that formed by Francis Perrin and Catherine Alric, which is none other than the portrait (almost) spit from an actress known from French cinema who also bears her first name: Catherine Deneuve.
Laughter, suspense and excellent acting… What more could you ask for?
Tonight on Arte at 8:55 p.m.
