ASM Clermont won with the offensive bonus against the promoted Vannes, this Saturday, at Michelin (55-33). “We won with style, it was not complete but I saw some good attempts,” reacted Christophe Urios, the Clermont coach, who admitted to having “never been worried” during this meeting .
“I was never worried. Frankly, there are matches where you are afraid, you don’t feel it, but there, it was not an easy match, that’s not the word, but we dominated. Afterwards, we take a try on an interception and Vannes comes back without doing much. We had scored three tries, we missed two, we just had to put things in order, go back to simple things instead of being impatient.
There you go, I wasn’t worried, nor was I calm because I knew that they had a strong bench, that they were going to play everywhere and that they had everything to gain. We scored nine tries, I don’t know what the beautiful game is, the benchmark match.
I was waiting for this kind of match. My greatest satisfaction is to give 55 points to this Vannes team which should have won in Montpellier and which could have won at the Stade Français. I am no more royalist than the king. We won with style, it wasn’t complete, but I saw some great attempts.”
