Todibo and Areola in distress against Spurs

The French Jean-Clair Todibo and Alphonse Areola were not impeccable during the 4-1 defeat of West Ham at Tottenham (8th day of the Premier League).

A match to forget for the West Ham Blues. The London club lost 4-1 at Tottenham on Saturday October 19 at the opening of the 8th day of the Premier League. A heavy defeat marked by the failed performances of Alphonse Areola and Jean-Clair Todibo.

The Hammers had started the match well with Mohammed Kudus opening the score in the 19th minute. But the ordeal began in the 36th minute, when Dujan Kulusevski penetrated the defense on the right side before benefiting from a weak hand from Alphonse Areola on his powerful shot at the near post.

Seven difficult minutes

In the second half, while Spurs had just taken the lead thanks to Yves Bissouma, the gap widened in the 55th minute following a missed intervention by Jean-Clair Todibo following a shot from Heung-Min Her. By accidentally bouncing the ball off Alphonse Areola while he was trying to make an interception, the former French defender made his goalkeeper score against his side.

The ordeal continued immediately for Todibo, in a duel with a Son who continued to gain ground on his left wing. Although he remained on his feet, the ex-Niçois could not prevent the South Korean from arming his shot and beating Areola at the near post (60th). The conclusion of a seven-minute momentum.

This result locks West Ham in the second half of the standings (14th) with 8 points in as many matches. Tottenham, who had lost their previous match, moved to 13 points and remained in contact with the locomotives.
