BFC Dynamo wants to stop the train

The BFC Dynamo fans are probably already preparing their choreography for the top game on Saturday: Lok Leipzig, leaders of the Regionalliga Nordost, unbeaten in the eleven games of the season so far, is coming to the Sportforum in Hohenschönhausen (2:05 p.m., MDR). Will there be a train at the choreo? “Lok has a lot going on at the moment. “They certainly live off the euphoria,” says BFC defender David Haider, “but of course a lot can break with a locomotive like that.”

Cup victory in Lichtenberg brought BFC closer together

The BFC definitely wants to stop the train and force the locomotive to stop. And Haider, 32, only experienced what it’s like when a train stops moving in the summer. He was currently taking the train to the airport in Frankfurt am Main to fly on vacation. Then his train jerked. He stopped unscheduled. Then he stopped again. He stopped somewhere between Halle and Erfurt. “Technical problems,” was the announcement. Reverse still worked. So the train went back to Halle and Haider, who grew up in Halle an der Saale and learned to play football, called his younger brother, who took him to the airport in time by car.

The teamwork between brothers worked perfectly. For the teamwork at BFC Dynamo, Haider says, after the rather mixed start to the season including a change of coach, the 5-0 win in the Berlin Cup last weekend against Lichtenberg 47 was very important: “Our fans are hungry for success. You want to be able to celebrate something again. We’re glad we delivered. That brought us even more together as a team.”

Coach Dennis Kutrieb also spoke on Thursday after training, in which his players worked very focused on the next pitch in the Sportforum, about how important the cup triumph in Lichtenberg was. Especially after his debut didn’t necessarily go perfectly with a 1-1 draw against Erfurt and a 0-1 defeat against VSG Altglienicke: “In the end, football is a results sport. The players need self-confidence. And trust in each other. You also need trust in the trainer. In Lichtenberg everyone saw that the things we train actually work.”

Rufat Dadashov is enthusiastic about coach Dennis Kutrieb

What are the things that the BFC trains? And what is it like for the players to have to adapt to the third head coach and his style in such a short space of time after Dirk Kunert and Andras Heraf?

“Dennis Kutrieb is a coach who is really keen and brings in a lot. We try to accept that from day to day,” says top scorer Rufat Dadashov, who contributed two goals to the 5-0 win in Lichtenberg and boosted his self-confidence for the top game against Lok Leipzig.

The style that Kutrieb prefers suits him very well. “We no longer try to get forward with long balls, but instead try to play football and get into the penalty area. This is my game. This is a good way to showcase goal scorers. Relying on a lot of long balls and set pieces didn’t suit us so well,” says Dadashov.

Creating goal scenes, creating chances and scoring goals is a difficult task against a team like Lok Leipzig. The Saxons have an extremely strong defense that has not allowed a goal six times in the eleven games so far. “They brought in a very good goalkeeper from Eilenburg,” says BFC coach Kutrieb. “They have good individual players and they work well as a group.” They have also already scored 13 points more than Hohenschönhausen, who are sixth in the table.

“Final stop at the sports forum?!” BFC fans posted

Dadashov, 33, is one of the experienced players at BFC. He says the team is really excited for the game on Saturday. “To score goals, you have to focus on the right moments and use them coldly.” Coach Kutrieb knows that most goals come from the 16-meter area. And to illustrate how his players can best get in there, he uses an illustrative comparison: “Like every animal in the wild, we have to look, where is the fence open? Where can I get through? Where can I dig a hole? What’s important is that every player knows their job.”

Defensive veteran Haider says he goes into the game against Lok like he goes into every game: “We have to beat our opponents in the duels with a certain grip and venom. Then comes the transition game, then we’ll see where there are opportunities to score goals.”

And coach Kutrieb emphasizes that he has the greatest respect for what Lok has shown so far. “If you don’t get defeated eleven times, you haven’t done much wrong. But now it’s a must that the train is stopped.” “Final stop at Sportforum?!” BFC fans posted.
