the city celebrates the writer Anatole

It is quite normal that Saint-Cyr-sur- celebrates the centenary of the death of Anatole since this great writer lived there, in his manor house of La Bcalerie, from 1914 until his death in 1924.

To celebrate this anniversary, the municipality organized several meetings, with the Hommes et Patrimoine association, Saturday October 12 and Sunday October 13, 2024. “An immense writer fallen into oblivion who had to be brought back into the spotlight”, said Bruno Lavillatte, assistant for culture, during the inauguration of the exhibition “Remembering Anatole” which is being held at the Salons Ronsard.

The reasons for this sidelining of Anatole France but also the recognition today of this humanist writer “surprisingly modern” were analyzed on Saturday during the conference “One hundred years later (1924-2024), the return of Anatole France? » given by Guillaume Métayer, research director at the CNRS, and Antoine Pin, author of a book on the writer. This evening, at L’Escale, a film concert of the film is planned Crainquebilledirected by Jacques Feyder (1922), based on the short story by Anatole France, accompanied on the piano by Karol Beffa, winner of the Victoires de la Musique Classique.
