– End of suspense. The Nations League match between the French team and that of Israel, scheduled for November 14, will take place at the Stade de France, police prefect Laurent Nuñez announced this Tuesday, October 15. The meeting “will of course be open to the public”he also clarified in a press release, thus putting an end to the rumors.

For several weeks, the question of whether this meeting of the 5th day of the League of Nations would be played behind closed doors or in the presence of the public had been asked due to the context of tensions in the Middle East. A possible relocation to the Parc des Princes, considered easier to secure, was also mentioned during a meeting on Friday.

“This match will be extremely sensitive given the geopolitical context”admitted Laurent Nuñez on Monday evening during an interview on France Info. “But what I can tell you is that it will take place under normal conditions,” he then added, explaining that he was working on the security system with the French Football Federation FFF and the Ministry of the Interior.

Due to the war waged by Israel against Hamas in the Gaza Strip and against Hezbollah in Lebanon, the previous meeting between the French team and that of Israel, which was initially to see the Hebrew State, had finally had held in Budapest, Hungary. The Blues also won 4 goals to 1.

Last July, Belgium’s home match against Israel for the first day of the League of Nations was relocated to Debrecen, Hungary, for the same reasons. The match was played behind closed doors. The city of Brussels had in fact announced that the match would not be played at the King Baudouin stadium, with the authorities judging “impossible to organize this match at very high risk” in the city’s territory due to tensions linked to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In the process, other Belgian cities also refused to host this match. “Given that in Belgium, no local administration considered it possible to organize the home match of the Red Devils against Israel on Friday September 6, the Royal Belgian Football Union had to look for a solution abroad”finally explained the RBFA in a press release.
