The Motor Show, “a strategic showcase” for Ligier and its Boufféré factory in Vendée

For the first time in 8 years, the Ligier group, based in Allier and Vendée, in Boufféré, is participating in the Motor Show, until Sunday in Paris. “An absolutely strategic showcase” for the specialist in small unlicensed cars and small utility vehicles. Its CEO, François Ligier, was the guest of Bleu Océanthis Tuesday.

“In 2023, we will have manufactured 16,500 vehicles”

The group is doing well, assures its CEO. In the license-free electric car market, it finds its place alongside Citroën, in particular, which is a hit with young people. “The market for quadricycles without engines (these small two-seater cars) is a market that is growing strongly and Ligier is a major player in this marketexplains François Ligier. “We have a wide range which allows us to ultimately cover different market segments. And then Ligier’s location is European. We export everywhere in Europe. We make 45% of our sales in France and 50% for export. So Ligier is a key player in this market. In 2023, we will have manufactured 16,500 vehicles. This allows us to have a robust industrial base to support the development of our activity.”

“We see very strong development in the professional vehicle activity”

Particularly for all things small utility vehicles, with, among the new models presented at the Paris Motor Show, a cargo bike capable of carrying up to 150 kilos.“We see a very strong development in Internet delivery and, with it, the need to be closer to the customer for large operators. And therefore, we see a very strong development in this professional vehicle activity. The cargo bike comes complete an already existing range made up of a three-wheel electric scooter, a utility vehicle, four wheels.”

What to do the heyday of the Boufféré factorynear Montaigu, and its 150 employees? “I wish them in any case. We fight every day to defend our jobs and push investments, push the walls, push, push the efficiency of the company to be ever more efficient.”

And in this, the Paris Motor Show is very important for Ligier. “Yes, it allows us to be present in the media, to meet customers very directly, who are interested in our products, who come to discover them and also buy them.”
