France fears headache. The pharmaceutical laboratory Sanofi is currently negotiating with an American fund the sale of a subsidiary which produces Doliprane, the best-selling drug in France. To the great dismay of the unions and part of the political class, who are worried about the consequences of the sale, particularly in terms of shortages.
Employees of the Lisieux (Calvados) factory where Doliprane is produced are also worried, as are consumers, while 424 million boxes of Doliprane were delivered to France in 2022.
No risk on supply?
However, there is little risk of shortages or price increases. This is what assures this Tuesday on RMC and RMC Story Benjamin, veterinary delegate, who worked at Sanofi until the end of the 2010s: “In France, the price of paracetamol is blocked at 2.18 euros”, he explains.
“But the problem is there, the prices are low in France whereas in Great Britain for example, there is a call for tenders for each molecule. In France, we have blocked prices and we have the price of the drug the lowest in Europe. So laboratories prioritize countries where they can earn more money.

On Monday, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron assured that the government would guarantee the protection of France on “capitalistic property”. Traveling to Lisieux, to the Doliprane production site, the Minister of the Economy Antoine Armand assured that the government was expecting “precise commitments” and promised possible “sanctions”.
Insufficient for Charles Consigny. “This is a typical case of the betrayal of the elites and the downgrading of our country,” tackles the lawyer on the plateau of Big Mouths. “They arrive in suits, have had good studies, look very serious and discredit their opponents. And under their reign, debt flirts with bankruptcy, factories relocate and French assets are sold abroad. reminds me of General Electric and Alstom,” he concludes.
