Next week’s weather: risk of a Mediterranean episode and unrest in the air

After a mixed weekend, but generally calm, especially on Sunday, the weather is deteriorating once again for this new week of October with bad weather to be feared. The unrest will be linked to the gradual rise of ex-Hurricane Leslie near Portugal, bringing up very mild air, but loaded with humidity.

Monday, mixed with further rain from the south

The anticyclone is still holding out for this Monday, particularly over the northern half. As a result, there will be numerous mists and fogs at daybreak, before clearings break through in the afternoon. Temperatures will be mild everywhere, from 16 to 24°C from north to south. A few showers are already expected to come up through the Mediterranean, with an atmosphere that will become chaotic as the hours go by.

Tuesday, last day of calm before the hustle and bustle

For this Tuesday, the sky should remain very cloudy throughout the day, in a mild mood since the flow is still oriented in the south to southwest sector. The clouds will become more and more numerous over the hours from the west and the south, while clearings will break through in the northeast quarter. Temperatures will remain above seasonal norms, with up to 24°C in the southwest.

Wednesday, return of choppy and rainy weather

This will be the start of the unrest with the distant arrival of ex-hurricane Leslie near Portugal. Ahead, the southwest flow will bring bursts of rain and storms to the west and south, all in a still very mild atmosphere. The northeast could fare better, since it is closer to the anticyclone over Eastern Europe.

Thursday, day to watch

For Thursday, even if the models are not yet calibrated, a Cévennes episode is possible in the south-east linked to the rise of a very unstable air mass over the Gulf of Lion. In the west, rains should also be copious. This is a situation where it will be necessary to monitor the risk of flooding, especially as the soils remain saturated since the passage of Kirk.

Friday, towards a timid lull

After the very turbulent day of Thursday, the sky could temporarily regain color, but the disturbances would not be far away. The situation is still to be confirmed since reliability weakens significantly at this time.
