Kimmich does not want a strike

Joshua Kimmich is absolutely not indisposed by the matches and competitions that are piling up.

In a context where more and more players are speaking out to demand a strike in the face of the ever more infernal pace, Joshua Kimmich “still likes to play and play a lot of matches”. The captain of the Mannschaft therefore does not place himself in the current movement, even ensuring that he is impatiently waiting for the League of Nations matches, with Germany facing the Netherlands in particular for a shock expected on Monday evening (after a first trip to Bosnia Friday).

“Injuries are often linked to accidents or stress”

“There will always be injuries. The squads are a little larger, we can also make more changes… Serious injuries are often due to accidents. As for muscle injuries, it is certainly linked to a high stress level.” But not directly in the sequence of matches, according to the Bayern defensive midfielder who admits to making himself “a little unpopular” with such a position. Kimmich “prefers an English week”, that is to say a week with two or three matches, rather than a normal week with a single meeting. It is served, even if in Germany the winter break is always longer than elsewhere and perhaps allows for better regeneration.

Furthermore, the 2020 European club champion (1-0 in the final against PSG) is decidedly clear-cut in his opinions and felt no empathy towards Bernd Leno who declined the selection of Julian Nagelsmann for this month. October, the Fulham goalkeeper having also been warned that he would not play and would therefore have to be content with a substitute role: “We want players who are very happy to be there, for everyone it must be very, very special to be there whether you have 100 caps or three, whether you are 34 or 19.” Always play, we understand, it’s Kimmich’s credo, but he should indeed know two new capes (and thus arrive at 96 selections) unlike his comrade.
