nurseries and schools closed in this Tuesday

Several schools and nurseries will be partially or completely closed this Tuesday, October 1 following a national strike movement. The city will set up a minimum reception service.

A call for a national strike has been launched by several unions for October 1. In Lille, several schools will be “strongly impacted” by the social movement, informs the town hall.

Out of 79 establishments in total, 19 nursery or elementary schools will have at least 25% of teachers on strike. “Four schools will be completely closed, 20 schools will not have after-school care in the morning, 30 will not have it at lunchtime and 21 will not have it in the evening,” announced the municipality.

Three closed nurseries

A minimum reception service will be set up by the town hall in the Louis Blanc-Descartes Montesquieu, Kergomard-Thierry Launay and Petits Pouchins-Lalo schools. The parents of the students were informed by the city by an email and an SMS.

Concerning municipal crèches, three of them will be closed: les Marmottes, Crépin Roland and les P’tits Minouches. The Marie Curie, La Capucine, La Poussinière and Madeleine Bres nurseries will be partially open.

The city’s six other nurseries will operate “normally” according to the town hall, which encourages parents to go to the “Family Space” interface to obtain additional information if necessary.

The CGT, Solidaires and FSU have launched a call for a strike and demonstration this Tuesday, October 1, to demand the repeal of the pension reform and an increase in wages. “It’s the return match against the pension reform,” assured last week the number one of the CGT, Sophie Binet.
