“After the concert of the Rammstein group, the victim got into a taxi parked on the Surlet de Chokierplein in Sint-Joost-ten-Node, close to the Madou metro station. The driver took the victim to a remote location and raped her brutally, “the police said in a press release. The concert of the German group took place on 4 August 2023 in the King Baudouin Stadium.

The suspect is approximately 35 years old and 1.85 meters long. It is heavily built and has a white skin color and dark blond curly hair. He drives a taxi with a red or dark orange light plate.

In the context of this investigation, the police are looking for taxi drivers who were at Madou and who saw a young woman with a t-shirt from the band Rammstein step in a taxi that was parked for them.

Taxi companies that are active in Brussels are also asked to check whether a taxi driver was employed on the evening of 4 August 2023 and whether he meets the description of the suspect.

False taxi drivers

It is not the first time that the police have been looking for a (false) taxi driver who rapes young women. A serial rapist who presented himself as a taxi driver was sentenced to 12 years in prison at the end of 2020, after it turned out that he had assaulted and/or raped eight young women between 2016 and 2019. He picked up his victims near the Université Libre de Bruxelles and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel or on the Flagey Square in Ixelles. The facts came to light when students decided to tell their story on Facebook.

In 2022, the serial rapist received a new additional penalty of 1 year for the kidnapping and rape of a young woman whose file was initially classified because the perpetrator could not be identified.
