The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued multiple alerts for heavy rainfall, dense fog, and cold wave conditions across various parts of India. Delhi and its surrounding areas are expected to experience a mix of weather, including isolated rainfall and foggy conditions.
On January 26, Delhi witnessed cold wave conditions and dense fog, with the maximum temperature recorded at 17.3°C, two degrees below the seasonal average. The city’s minimum temperature is likely to settle around 7°C, and an orange alert has been issued for dense fog in the region.

Anand Vihar station recorded an AQI of 374 on January 26, indicating high pollution levels. A fresh western disturbance is expected to bring scattered rainfall and snowfall to Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand from the night of January 29, with similar conditions expected through February 1.
In addition, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi-NCR, and Uttar Pradesh are likely to see isolated rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning from January 30 to February 1. Temperatures across Northwest and Central India are expected to drop by 2-3°C over the next two days, followed by a gradual rise of 2-4°C later in the week.
-Dense fog is predicted to affect visibility in isolated pockets of Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan on January 26. Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh are expected to experience dense to very dense fog in several areas, with similar conditions expected in parts of Uttar Pradesh.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmir valley will remain mostly cloudy with dry weather until February 1, except for light snowfall at higher altitudes from January 30. The region is currently in the midst of ‘Chillai-Kalan,’ the harshest winter period, lasting until January 31. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions during this fluctuating weather.
