Former sailor Evi Van Acker is suffering serious infection in Costa Rica: “Her medical condition is stable”

Evi Van Acker (39), who won Olympic bronze in sailing at the London 2012 Games, has suffered a serious infection on holiday in Costa Rica. “Her medical condition is stable,” says her friend and CEO of the BOIC Cédric van Branteghem.

Van Acker was admitted to hospital during a holiday in the Central American Costa Rica. Her situation was serious. “Evi is currently receiving the best medical worries, so that she can recover quickly,” Van Branteghem reports hopeful via the BOIC. “We will not remember to further inform you as soon as there is more news. Until then we ask you to respect the peace and privacy of Evi and her family. ”

The Ghent Evi Van Acker is one of the best sailors our country has ever known. Between 2006 and 2016, she took the European title, a number of World Cup medals and a bronze Olympic medal. In 2011 she won the Flemish sports jewel, in 2012 the National Trophy for Sports Preference, the Flemish Reus and the Trophy for Sportswoman of the Year. After her active career, she supervised her successors as technical director of Wind & Watersport Vlaanderen.
