A rousing 5:4 in Lisbon in the Champions League on Tuesday. Now a gala in the Spanish league. FC Barcelona are on the hunt for goals under Hansi Flick.
FC Barcelona went on a scoring spree in front of their own fans for at least one half. Hansi Flick’s team celebrated a 7:1 victory over FC Valencia at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium in Barcelona. The hosts scored five goals in the first half alone.
Just five days after their stirring comeback to win 5-4 in the Champions League at Benfica Lisbon, the Catalans produced another memorable evening of football. However, they remain seven points behind leaders Real Madrid in third place in the table. Atlético Madrid are three points better off after 21 games.
The hosts, with goalscorer Robert Lewandowski only on the bench for the time being, took the lead against Valencia through Frenkie de Jong in the third minute. Ferran Torres (8′) and Raphinha (14′) quickly followed up before Fermín López made it all clear with a brace (24′ and 45.+4) before the break.
The first goal after the break was scored by the visitors when Hugo Duro (59) reduced the deficit to 1:5. Six minutes after his substitution, Lewandowski also scored (66′), before Valencia, who were bottom of the table, scored an own goal through Cesar Tárrega (75′).
