During an interview given to BFMTVPascal Bataille spoke about his fight against cancer. The host gave his news and called for early detection to save lives.

Known for his iconic duo with Laurent and their cult show Only the truth countsPascal Bataille is going through a difficult ordeal today. The famous French presenter revealed in early December that he was suffering from lung cancer. If he shares rather optimistic news about his state of health, the father also warns of the importance of early detection, a measure which could have changed the course of his medical journey. It is with great sincerity that Pascal Bataille returned to his fight against illness during an interview given to BFMTV. He explained that he was faced with a late diagnosis. “It took me 9 months to diagnose this cancer, which during this time evolved”, he confided. According to him, initial tests, including a simple x-ray, failed to detect the tumor. Faced with these inconclusive results, the medical profession considered other avenues: a long Covid, gastric reflux, etc. But, in the meantime, the disease was progressing.

Despite this delay, Pascal Bataille shared encouraging news. “Immunotherapy and chemotherapy gave a positive response. We are still waiting for some results, but in any case the doctors are very optimistic”, he indicated. 17 days ago, the host underwent life-changing surgery in which the lower lobe of his right lung was removed. An operation which he is delighted with today: “I am very happy with this intervention and the convalescence is going wonderfully.

Pascal Bataille: “Let’s get tested”, a call for prevention

During this interview, Pascal Bataille took the opportunity to raise public awareness of the importance of early detection. While the National Cancer Institute has just launched a pilot program for lung cancer screening, the 65-year-old presenter encourages everyone to get examined. “The sooner doctors find it, the more likely you are to be treated well, effectively and to recover.”, he said, before adding: “Let's take advantage of these new screenings which, I hope, are becoming more widespread for lung cancer as for other forms of disease and let's go ahead without fear. Because the sooner you do it, the more likely you are to survive it.
