For the first time in four years, a Super-G will be held on the Streif on Friday. In 2021, Vincent Kriechmayr, who is aiming for a sensational comeback, won the last one so far. This year the favorites are different – especially the Swiss around Marco Odermatt and Franjo von Allmen. “I’ve already made it onto the podium here, it’s a special Super-G,” said Odermatt before the race.

The same goes for Dominik Paris, who won the Super-G in 2015 and came third in 2019. After the recent strong results in Wengen, the veteran, who answered questions at the Steif s+ before the races, has a lot to believe in. Florian Schieder is also looking forward to Kitzbühel. The only two World Cup podium places he achieved here were in the downhill. It is uncertain whether it will work a third time this year as he is struggling with knee problems. “It’s not ideal, but I think I’m ready for the races,” says the Castelrotto native.

Despite his physical worries, he is really looking forward to it. “I just like the classics. Maybe it’s the people, the cheering. ‘You’re not a real downhill skier if you haven’t won on the Streif’, Franz Bracke once said. I will try to put this sentence into practice.”

The 29-year-old thinks he has significantly better chances in the downhill, especially since he starts in the Super-G with the high number 54. Paris was drawn the 15. Kriechmayr and Odermatt have the 7 and 8 respectively on their chests. Von Allmen starts immediately afterwards.
