War, climate change, AI and crises – world events are the focus of the “World Economic Forum” 2025 in Davos. Federal President Karin Keller-Sutter opened the event and spoke at “Gredig Direkt” about Switzerland’s most pressing challenges.

Around 3,000 participants from 130 countries, including 60 heads of state and government, will discuss political and economic solutions to global crises in Davos. Particular focuses are the war in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, the shift to the right in Europe and the consequences of US economic policy under President Donald Trump.

High-level meetings in Davos
Federal President Keller-Sutter will meet in Davos with leading politicians such as Chinese Vice Prime Minister Ding Xuexiang, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Ukrainian President Volodimir Selenski. The focus is on Switzerland’s relations with the EU and the G20 countries as well as key geopolitical and financial developments.

Global and domestic political challenges
In an interview with Urs Gredig, Karin Keller-Sutter sheds light on the negotiations with the EU, the possible effects of the new US government policy on Switzerland, but also domestic political challenges such as austerity policy or the climate in the Federal Council.
